If you’re building your career in domestic abuse or safeguarding, gaining an IDVA certificate is an important milestone. At Be Astute, we’re proud to be an approved centre delivering the OCNLR Level 3 Certificate in Domestic Abuse: Prevention and Early Intervention — the official qualification often known as the Level 3 IDVA certificate.
What makes our programme different is that we deliver it alongside the Level 4 Domestic and Sexual Abuse Worker Apprenticeship. Learners achieve both qualifications at the same time, combining knowledge with real-world application, reflection, and mentoring.

For domestic and sexual abuse support workers, apprenticeships ensure training is relevant, hands-on, and aligned with industry standards, helping them build confidence in safeguarding, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care. Crisis Response & Risk Management - Recognise crisis situations, carry out risk assessments, and ensure safety planning in line with policies. Use appropriate tools to safeguard survivors.

PR & Comms
If you're building your career in PR and communications within domestic abuse or sexual violence services, the Level 4 PR and Communications Assistant Apprenticeship is an important step forward. At Be Astute, we deliver this programme to help learners develop the strategic, practical, and ethical skills needed to communicate effectively and responsibly in this sensitive sector.
Our course combines real-world project work — including two live campaigns learners plan, deliver, and evaluate themselves — with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours set out in the national apprenticeship standard. For PR and communications professionals working in domestic abuse and sexual violence services, this apprenticeship ensures training is relevant, practical, and aligned with sector standards — helping learners build confidence in strategic communications, content production, and stakeholder engagement, all shaped by the realities of working in this sector. With government funding available, it's a cost-effective way to invest in your team's professional development while strengthening your organisation's voice and reach.
Strategy & Horizon Scanning — Establish, critique, and align communications strategy with organisational priorities. Monitor media trends, social listening, and sector developments to anticipate change and respond to it before it becomes a problem.
Content Production & Distribution — Produce and distribute written and non-written content — news releases, articles, blogs, bulletins, social media, and video — tailored to different audiences and channels, and continually test and evaluate what actually works.
Myths, Stereotypes & Evidence-Based Campaigning — Research the historical, gendered, and intersectional context behind domestic abuse and sexual violence, and use qualitative and quantitative evidence to challenge myths and stereotypes through a live mini-campaign, from concept through to stakeholder sign-off and delivery.
Risk, Crisis & Reputation Management — Assess and prioritise reputational risks, understand how crisis plans are activated and implemented, and pitch ambitious campaign ideas backed by proper risk analysis.
Regulations, Ethics & Inclusive Practice — Apply data protection law, regulatory requirements, codes of practice, and ethical guidance — including the ethics of representing survivors — to real pieces of work, and analyse cases where PR has been used unethically to learn what should have happened instead.
Stakeholder & Team Development — Build and manage stakeholder relationships through formal and informal engagement, produce stakeholder analyses, and support the development needs of colleagues through coaching, buddying, and training needs analysis.
